About This Project

Project Overview
STIHL HQ, Camberley comprises the construction of a 121,000 sq ft headquarters and distribution facility designed to support STIHL GB’s operational and administrative functions. The development includes a 97,000 sq ft warehouse incorporating advanced picking systems, alongside 25,000 sq ft of headquarters accommodation providing office space, training facilities, a technical workshop and staff amenities. The scheme delivers a consolidated, high-quality operational base aligned with STIHL’s long-term business requirements.

Project Requirements
The client required a modern headquarters and distribution facility capable of supporting advanced logistics operations while also providing high-quality office, training and staff facilities. Key requirements included the integration of efficient warehouse picking systems, flexible workspace, specialist training areas and robust sustainability credentials. The project also required delivery within a defined programme to enable timely occupation and operational transition.

Glencar’s Role
Glencar was appointed under a Design & Build contract to deliver the headquarters and distribution facility, coordinating design development, construction and stakeholder interfaces through to completion and handover.

Technical & Delivery Challenges
The project required close coordination between warehouse operations and headquarters accommodation to ensure efficient workflows and operational separation where required. Integrating advanced picking systems alongside office and training spaces demanded careful sequencing and detailed coordination of building services. Sustainability measures, including photovoltaic installations and EV charging infrastructure, were integrated without compromising programme delivery.
