Glencar Construction is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a contract to rebuild Ocado’s Andover CFC after a devastating fire at the facility earlier this year.
The new building, a state-of-the-art automated customer fulfilment centre, will cover some 210,000 square feet and process tens of thousands of customer orders every week. The facility will include freezer, chill and ambient warehouse spaces and multi-level mezzanines. Glencar will also create a large office block, multi-storey car park and a large vehicle ramp, in a significant re-configuration of the existing space.
Working with Ashton Smith Associates, EirEng, MBA, Stroma (Building Control), Astute Fire and Rider Levett Bucknall, the scheme will take a year to complete. The project is due to start imminently, with Glencar having already completed demolition works at the Walworth Business Park site.
Peter Goodman, construction director at Glencar, commented “We are delighted to continue our already established relationship with the Ocado team. We look forward to delivering this exciting project alongside industry leading consultants and our valued supply chain.”
Eddie McGillycuddy, Glencar managing director, commented “Ocado are at the forefront of innovation in their sector and it’s great to be working with them again to deliver a key scheme.”
